V&V Land Management - Shinn Systems Mulching Head

V&V Land Management is clearing a right of way for a new road in Black Mountain NC with the help of a Shinn Systems Powerpack-Enabled Mulching Cutter.  Merchantable timber was cut and hauled away.  The mulching cutter was to clear tree crowns, stumps and unusable timber from the intended road path.  These machines are not for full-scale logging or timbering, but to clean up afterwards, or for clearing and maintaining rights-of-way.  Their application is fairly specific, and they are a vast improvement on all the soil-disturbing technologies such as bulldozers and track hoes that bring with them additional pollution problems through erosion.  The long reach of the track hoe also means that debris can be cleared without the heavy equipment damaging the tree roots of "keeper" trees.  Remember that the mulching in the video was for demonstration purposes, in an attempt to show what the equipment is capable of.
