ভারত ও চীন উত্তেজনার মধ্যেই লাদাখের পূর্বাঞ্চলের প্রকৃত নিয়ন্ত্রণ রেখার 'ব্ল্যাক টপের' নতুন একটি অঞ্চল নিজেদের নিয়ন্ত্রণে নেয়ার দাবি করেছে ভারতের আধা সামরিক বাহিনী আই.টি.বি.পি। অন্যদিকে, সীমান্তে নতুন বিমানঘাঁটি নির্মাণের পাশাপাশি সামরিক সক্ষমতা বাড়াচ্ছে চীন। সেনাদের মুখোমুখি অবস্থানের মধ্যেই দুই দেশের প্রতিরক্ষামন্ত্রী বৈঠক করেছেন। শান্তি প্রতিষ্ঠায়, আগে বিশ্বাস অর্জনের আহ্বান জানিয়েছেন ভারতের প্রতিরক্ষামন্ত্রী রাজনাথ সিং। আর চীন সাফ জানিয়েছে, সীমানার এক ইঞ্চিও ছাড় দেবে না তারা। এদিকে, নাক না গলাতে চীনের সতর্কতা সত্ত্বেও ভারত-চীন দ্বন্দ্ব মেটাতে সাহায্যের আগ্রহ প্রকাশ করেছেন মার্কিন প্রেসিডেন্ট ডোনাল্ড ট্রাম্প।
