Speaking at the European Parliament on Tuesday 13 November, Ryszard Lefutko accused Angela Merkel, Manfred Weber, and the EPP of being hijacked by the socialist politics.
"95% of what you said could have been said by Martin Schultz," he said. Lefutko continued by saying that he could imagine Udo Bullmann and Manfred Weber switching places as chairs of the EPP and S&D groups in the European Parliament.
"I can imagine Mr. Verhofstadt taking both positions. And it wouldn't make a difference. Perhaps the only difference being that there would be more insults flying around," he concluded.
In his reply, Guy Verhofstadt accused Lefutko of being anti-European. "I'm proud of this pro-European majority that exists in this house," he said.
