Florida man arrested for felony battery after slapping hot coffee from McDonald’s employee

On August 25, 2023, Elizar Ravelo pulled up to the drive thru at a McDonald's in Miami Springs, Florida.
According to the Miami Springs Police Department, Ravelo got into a heated argument with the window attendant over the amount he was being charged.
The restaurant manager approached the window and explained she did not appreciate the way he was treating the employees and that if he continued to do so, would not be allowed back at the restaurant, police say.
Ravelo reportedly began to verbally assault her and threatened to throw coffee on her. When the manager reached out to hand him his coffee, Ravelo purposely reached out and slapped it out of her hands, Miami Springs police say.
The coffee spilled onto the manager's right arm and chest area causing red burn marks on her skin.
Ravelo drove off before police arrival, but was located by the Miami Springs Detective Bureau and was reportedly arrested for felony battery.
