Explore the fascinating world of acclaimed artist Luke Jerram as he reveals the secrets behind sculpting viruses, the moon, and diatoms with astonishing accuracy. Have you ever wondered how artists achieve such scientific precision in their work?
Luke Jerram is a visionary artist who pushes the boundaries of perception, creativity, and scientific understanding, always exploring the intersection of art and science. Luke’s ongoing research of perception is fuelled by the fact that he is colour-blind. He investigates the qualities of space and perception in extreme locations, from Zero G flights in Russia to the freezing forests of Lapland and the sand dunes of the Sahara desert, leading to the emergence of new ways of seeing.
His multidisciplinary practice involves the creation of sculptures, installations and live arts projects. Based in the UK but working internationally since 1997, Jerram has produced numerous extraordinary art projects that have captivated and inspired people worldwide. In 2023 alone, he presented over 115 exhibitions in 27 different countries, attracting more than 3 million visitors.
In addition to touring his installations, Luke's artworks are featured in over 60 permanent collections worldwide, including prestigious institutions such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Shanghai Museum of Glass, and the Wellcome Collection in London.
