In this video I am sharing tips and giving advice on how to make sure your vehicle starts cold every morning during the freezing winter months and negative cold temperatures. This video applies to really cold weather ( -20 Celsius to - 50 Celsius ) where you can't stand to be outside longer than few minutes.

In the extreme winter conditions you have to make sure to drive a reliable vehicle which can beat the coldest temperatures. It can literally depend on life / death. Getting stuck somewhere at -40 Degrees with no heat in a car, you will not last very long.

Following this tips can make sure  that  never happens to you:

1. ENGINE OIL - Always before the winter starts make sure to do an oil change with GOOD QUALITY FULL SYNTHETIC ENGINE OIL. Regular or Semi-synthetic oil will freeze and become like a gelatin at cold temperatures. And then there is absolutely no way to start  the  vehicle. Synthetic engine oil will not freeze and will stay in liquid form even at coldest days.

2. VEHICLE BATTERY - Battery has to be tested before the winter starts. BATTERY NEEDS TO HAVE A HIGH CCA RATING! Even new battery with average / low CCA Rating will not start the vehicle or it will struggle. CCA Stands for Cold Cranking Amps, it is a rating in battery industry to define the battery's ability to start the vehicle at cold temperatures.

3. ENGINE BLOCK HEATER - This is optional, but very helpful vehicle addon. Engine block heater when plugged in keeps the engine oil warm so it does not freeze at cold temperatures. It will help to start a vehicle at extreme temperatures even with regular engine oil.

4. BATTERY HEATER - This is optional as well, it will keep the battery from freezing when plugged in. Works same like the engine block heater, it heats the battery core.

Ideally, you would have all four of the  above options, although just the synthetic oil and good battery will get you through the winter in most cases.

Once you have started the vehicle, leave it running for at least 15 minutes before driving and turning the steering wheel. Give it time to warm up, give time for all the hoses and fluids to warm up. This especially applies to power steering system.

Thanks for watching.
