What were the limits of dinosaur colour?

The image of dinosaurs has crystalized ever since we've known they existed. The most impressive of these discoveries in my opinion is the ability to understand the colours of exceptionally preserved specimens through their preserved melanocytes. With taxa this doesn't apply to, we rely on finding suitable analogues to take inspiration from for colour schemes. But how rigid are these? And how much can we push the amount of differences within a single dinosaur?

To be clear this is a gross oversimplification of very fascinating topics so please correct me if I make a mistake
