He is known for his work in a diverse range of theatre, film, and television productions--often portraying villainous roles or character parts. Curry rose to prominence with his portrayal of 'Dr. Frank-N-Furter' in "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" (1975), reprising the role he had originated in the 1973 London and 1974 Los Angeles stage productions of "The Rocky Horror Show." Curry received further acclaim for portaying 'Rooster Hannigan' in the film adaptation of "Annie" (1982), as 'Darkness' in the fantasy film "Legend" (1985), as 'Wadsworth' in the mystery comedy film "Clue" (1985), as 'Pennywise the Dancing Clown' in the horror miniseries "It" (1990) and 'Long John Silver' in "Muppet Treasure Island" (1996).

Clue is a 1985 American ensemble mystery comedy film based on the board game of the same name. The film was directed by Jonathan Lynn, who collaborated on the script with John Landis, and stars Eileen Brennan, Tim Curry, Madeline Kahn, Christopher Lloyd, Michael McKean, Martin Mull, and Lesley Ann Warren. The film was produced by Debra Hill. In keeping with the nature of the board game, the theatrical release included three possible endings, with different theaters receiving one of the three endings. In the film's home video release, all three endings were included.
