There is no central law regarding the registration of preschools in India. However, some state laws exist, such as the “Private School Education Acts” in Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and others. Many other states have letters issued by the State Government (under the guise of the RTE Act), regarding the starting and running of a preschool.
Four important facts unlining the preschool in India as described in the video
• Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) in India: The Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme is the largest ECCE scheme in the world catering to children under 6 years of age in India. The component of ECCE that focuses on education and learning among children is referred to as Early Childhood Education (ECE) or preschool education.
• National Education Policy of India: The draft National Education Policy of India, made public in June 2019, dedicates its first chapter to the importance of early childhood care and education and the need to extend the right to education to every child who is three to six years old.
• Guidelines for Preschool Education: The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has published guidelines for preschool education in India. These guidelines aim to provide a framework for developing a comprehensive and integrated curriculum for preschool education.
• Laws regulating preschools in India: Various states in India have implemented laws to regulate preschools.
