How to find the formula for the area of a kite.
A kite is a special quadrilateral (four sided polygon) that has two distinct equal pairs of adjacent sides. Its diagonals cross at right angles and one diagonal is a perpendicular bisector of the other diagonal.

When we dissect a kite into four triangles we can see that its area fits into exactly into half the area of the rectangle made by its diagonals d1 and d2. Therefore we can see that the formula for the area of the kite is A=1/2 x d1 x d2 or A=(d1 x d2)/2.
