We vacationed at Hard Rock Cancun last summer and had an okay experience. They offered us a deal for anyHard Rock Resort with a free upgrade as Legendary members for our stay. Since the Hard Rock in Los Cabos was pretty new, we decided to try it out.
Positives:
*Resort is new and clean
*Toro steakhouse was good. The team there worked really hard to get everything done. Our server had lots of technical issues (internet?) putting in our order but she was nice. Food overall was good. Steak quality was good. We were next to the kitchen and it was nice to see them visually cooking the food. Must make reservations in advance! I would advise you to make reservations ASAP. We almost did not get a spot.
*Zen server Juan Carlos was very good. He was attentive, friendly and he got all orders and all drinks to the correct person. Wow! Only minor thing was it took a while for food to come out. We had reservations at 5pm and were not done until 730pm. Food overall was delicious.
*Zen Teppenaki was great. The chef was entertaining and the waiter was very attentive. Tables can accommodate up to 15 people. We had a party of 12 for Monday night and had a good time along with 3 other visiting strangers who were coincidentally from Minnesota.
*Cafetto was refreshing. The staff there were incredible. We can not believe they are able to remember and deliver our orders regardless of where we sat. They were very courteous and really cared about the guests. My family really enjoyed our trips to Cafetto for a quick snack. The Ice cream was delicious.
*Juice bar had an awesome staff. He showed the kids a few magic tricks on multiple days. He was friendly and went above and beyond his job duties.
Negative:
*The check in process was so long. We flew in from Minnesota (4 hour flight), so most people in our group were exhausted and hungry from the travel- especially since the flight was delayed (Sun Country). There were three lines, the Legendary line, regular line and key re-activation line. Even though we were the first one to arrive and standing in the Legendary line, some people who arrived later and were in the regular line received service before we did. Maybe they should consider getting a number system to be more fair and reduce confusion. We waited over 45 mins in the check line, even though we were the group. When it was finally our turn it was another 30-40 mins to check and get our 2 rooms. Beware they will try to schedule you for a timeshare while you are in line. Our California family who came early in the day had a similar negative experience with the check in process. This process was way too long and unacceptable.
*Ipenma Grill was not open at all during our stay here 😔
*The Market (buffet) was overcrowded and we were unable to dine there. We went there on Monday at 9am, no space for a group of 9. We tried the next day at 8:30am, again no space for a group of 9. We asked, how about table for 4 and 5, still no space available 😔. They asked us to try Ciao. They said it’s the same food.
*On website, it says Ciao has A la carte dinner but during our stay it was buffet only.
*No Al le carte for breakfast (not even for Legendary members). Only buffet breakfast was available and they are at Market and Ciao. 😔Website says Los Gallo has A la carte Breakfast for Legendary members but it was not available during our visit.
*Music Lab: Our stay was from Friday-Tuesday morning. We went there on Saturday morning to ask if there’s any openings. Unfortunately, they don’t do any same day appointments and are closed Sundays and Mondays this particular week. So no music lab for us. 😔
*No phone App to view activities and menus on QR codes to view. We loved the App at Dreams resort (AMR resort App).
Things to note:
*Drive from the airport to the resort is about 1 hour.
*April is very windy and cold during our stay (April 1-5th). Very difficult to enjoy due to the wind.
*Beach is not swimmable (dangerous).
*Combo Camel ride & ATV excursion was a good experience. You may be able to get 10% to 25% off depending on who you speak with. We got 10% off but later that day someone offered us 25%off. The ATVs were manuals and not disclosed at time of sales. They do not allow phone usage or photographs unless you pay $25-$35 extra per person for private tour ($250- private group of 10 for us)
