Custom over the toilet storage,
Custom over the toilet storage, you know you want it! In this video, you'll discover how to create custom bathroom storage using wood crates, Minwax polyshades, shelf brackets, and a little sweat equity. You can buy wood crates at craft stores or get them for free from farmer's markets. This solution is great for storing towels, toilet paper, or whatever else you need in the bathroom.
Sand off rough edges, labels, and splinters with 100 grit sandpaper. If you scratch the wood use 220 grit to smooth it out. Use a tack cloth to wipe off dust and bits of wood. Treat the crate with the wood conditioner. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes.
Stain the crate with Polyshades and allow it to dry for 6 hours before adding a second coat. Use a light sandpaper (like 300 grit) to abrade the first coat, again use a tack cloth, then add your second coat of Polyshades. Add shelf brackets to the underside of the crate using screws and attach the crate over your toilet using toggle bolts.
