SmartCrusher bv has developed a technique for recovering the sand, the gravel and the cement from concrete. This technique, known in the Netherlands as 'SlimBreken', has been tested and proven on a laboratory scale and in practice.
The concrete rubble processed by the SmartCrusher can easily be sieved for directly reusable sand and gravel fractions.
SmartCrusher not only makes the concrete chain circulair, it also makes the sand and gravel better than new.
Extensive research, at Eindhoven University of Technology among others, has shown that a 25% increase in strength is more a rule than an exception.
The most important aspect, however, is that all the cement can be retreived, clean and unpolluted by fine, broken sand.
SmartCrusher puts and end to the present, ongoing greenhouse gas emissions that result from the production of cement. SmartCrusher even makes it possible to produce carbon-neutral cement.
With the current cement, sand and gravel prices and the prices of concrete rubble, together with the low-energy consumption of the SmartCrusher, this clearly is a very positive development.
