Sometimes in coach, you are able to just board the train and choose a seat. At other stations, you are allocated a seat on the platform or in the station. You reservation only guarantees you a seat on the train and not a specific seat!
All coach tickets can be upgraded to sleeper on the app after purchase up until you are due to travel the first leg of your itinerary. As such, if you do choose to buy a coach ticket, I would recommend keeping a close eye on the upgrade prices as they tend to fluctuate and you could snag a good deal!
