For nearly five years, the Rolex Explorer (Ref. 14270, 36mm) was my favorite automatic watch—until last year (2019) when I received the Squale 30 ATMOS 60th Anniversary SUB-39 Limited Edition with no date. Since then, this vintage inspired diver has become my favorite watch of all time. But Squale has now released two new permanent versions of the SUB-39 for 2020, signifying that this line of watches will become a fixture of the brand alongside their more iconic 1521 (50 ATMOS), 2002 (101 ATMOS), and Squalematic (60 ATMOS).
