[Title]
The lettering of the title “I.M.PERFECT” is from the inspiration by “will.i.am.”, the lead singer of the Black Eyed Peas. The theme of this song is about the dichotomy of perfection and imperfection, and “I.M.PERFECT” seemed to be a nice way to express “I am perfect in my imperfections”. This title can convey both "I am perfect" and "Imperfect" allowing you to interprete it based on your own feelings.

[Message of the song/lyrics]
Many of us have encountered moments of stress when our efforts don’t deliver optimal results. The lines, “The harder I look, The mirror goes crook” illustrate the paradoxical situation when our work gets worse while putting in more effort. Whether it’s in studying, drawing, practicing a sport, etc. this phenomenon can lead to a frustrating experience.  

I see frustration as a main factor in destroying my confidence and courage. In this song, I fight against the frustration that pops up while I pursue perfection knowing I can never get there. The whole song portrays how my mindset shifts from feeling unsure about myself to embracing my imperfections. By the end, I get to like myself just as imperfect as I am because I realize that perfection and imperfection are pretty subjective ideas.

[About the collaboration]
The idea of collaboration with Yuna came naturally. We were already close during the time in Korea, and once back to America in July, 2023, our connection deepened. Living in nearby neighborhoods, we often hung out: shopping, taking dance classes at The Playground LA, and making fun TikTok videos. I wrote this song at the end of August and finalized it with my producer, Kevin Cho in September. Knowing that Yuna has a charming rapping voice and good dance skills, I suggested a collaboration in one of my songs as a featuring artist and she accepted it with pleasure. I love Yuna!
