There’s nothing better than classic, crispy, oven-fried Southern-style chicken. This recipe is so easy, you’ll want to make it all the time! This southern oven fried chicken recipe is simply the best because it always comes out super flavorful and extra crispy, and there were no fancy ingredients needed.

0:20 - Brine the chicken overnight.
1:00 - Add hot sauce to a bowl.
1:37 - Add an egg to the bowl.
1:40 - Whisk well.
2:00 - Pour the sauce over the chicken.
2:05 - Toss to coat.
2:36 - Place all purpose flour on a cookie sheet.
2:40 - Add plain bread crumbs.
3:00 - Sprinkle in seasoning salt.
3:24 - Sprinkle in poultry seasoning.
3:38 - Sprinkle in garlic and onion powder.
3:42 - Mix to combine.
4:10 - Coat the chicken in the flour mixture.
4:36 - Shake off any excess flour.
4:48 - Place a cooling rack on a cookie sheet.
5:15 - Oil the cooling rack.
5:24 - Place the chicken on the cooling rack.
5:57 - Spray oil on the chicken.
6:27 - Flip the chicken over and spray the other side.
7:00 - Bake on 400 degrees until golden and crisp.
