Japanese Squirrel Caught on Trailcam in Snowy Winter

Got a glimpse of a Japanese squirrel (Sciurus lis, family Sciuridae) running around the snow-covered mountain trail under a tree of Japanese red-cedar (Cryptomeria japonica, family Cupressaceae).  Captured with my new trailcam in the morning (around 7:10 AM) of early-February 2023 in Japan.  It was -3 degrees Celsius.  The Japanese squirrel doesn’t hibernate even in harsh winters.
