This is a Motormouth couple car review of the all-new Lexus TX 550h+ plug-in (PHEV) 3-row mid-size luxury SUV. The Lexus TX 550h+ is a plug-in hybrid with 53 km/33 miles of electric vehicle range.
IThe Lexus TX 550h+t has a 3.5L V6 plug-in hybrid powertrain matched to a CVT with a combined 404 horsepower. When the battery is depleted, Lexus says, it will get an estimated 7.8L/100 km, 30 MPG.
With an increasing demand for a large 3-row family hauler this category whether luxury or non-luxury is highly competitive. Unfortunately, the RX L didn’t cut it for space which is why Lexus has introduced the TX which has best in class storage. Lexus says, they focused on a practical design and believes the TX will be its third best seller behind the NX and RX. Two thirds of the Lexus fleet is now electrified and electrified vehicle sales are up for Lexus. In Canada electrified sales account for 54% vs. 34% in 2022. The UX hybrid sales are up 84%, NX hybrid up 49% and the RX hybrid up 224%.
Pricing has not been announced for the Lexus TX 550h+ as this vehicle will not hit dealerships until next year.
The Lexus TX 550h+ F Sport is the sportiest of the TX models with exclusive F Sport features including F Sport badging you see on our test model.
The TX 500h has a 2.4L turbocharged hybrid powertrain with a 6-speed automatic transmission, a combined 366 horsepower and standard DIRECT4 AWD. Official fuel economy numbers have not been released yet but Lexus is reporting an estimated combined fuel economy of 9.8L/100 km, 24 MPG.
In the US, the TX 350 FWD model starts at $55,050 USD/AWD $56,650 USD, TX 350 Premium FWD $58,450 USD/AWD $60,050 USD, TX 350 Luxury FWD $60,950 USD/AWD $62,550 USD, TX 500h F Sport Performance Premium AWD $69,350 USD and TX 500h F Sport Performance Luxury AWD $72,650 USD.
