Time to revisit the Xbox 360... Again! This is a follow-up video of sorts to what I released a couple of weeks ago, in which I bought an older model Xbox 360 from GameStop and opened it up to see if they were still doing any repairs to the consoles. What was witnessed was a console that was not refurbished (thankfully), but a console that was traded in, tested, and quickly repackaged for resale. In that video I expressed relief that GameStop had not performed any repairs themselves to the console, then explained and showed what GameStop had done to refurbish Xbox 360 consoles. It was revealed to me that you would specifically need a console labelled as a "refurbished" unit to get the x-clamps replaced and the fans modified to run at a higher voltage. I was told to "Get a refurb system then do this." I had easy access to a couple, so I decided to follow through! On the topic of refurbished/repaired Xbox 360 consoles from GameStop - many people noticed however that aside from these refurbished consoles being louder, they also seemed to fail rather quickly. Of course, there are many people who have had nothing but luck with their GameStop refurbished consoles, but it was bad enough where the word was getting out across the Internet. It was not officially reported on until early 2015, long after the console's prime time, that GameStop was knowingly selling temporarily repaired consoles.
