Ludwig van Beethoven (December 16, 1770 - March 26, 1827) German composer and pianist and one of the most influential musicians in history.
*This mask was cast in 1812, when Beethoven was about 42 years of age.
*Beethoven's deafness, ill health, and eventual death could have been related in a significant degree to his tendency toward heavy drinking and alcoholism, as the alcohol in Beethoven's time had more lead content than in today's liquor. It's not too much to imagine that Beethoven suffered from the effects of long-term lead poisoning.
