There is any flat part and ascending is a constant. The trail isn't hard to follow, made up with stone (inca trail style) and terrain in some parts, but the altitude...
The reward is definitely the view of Machu Picchu, the mountains surrounding it and the Urubamba river running down all the way down on the valley.
The view is just surreal !!
Machu Picchu Mountain Hike is a once-in-a-lifetime experience and if you like adventure, you should definitely do that when you visit Machu Picchu.

Somando a altitude com minha falta de tempo terminei fazendo essa trilha corrido e as minhas pernas não resistiram.
A trilha é fácil de seguir, formada por pedras e algumas partes por terra batida.
A recompensa é sem duvida a vista da cidadela, e da cadeia de montanhas redor de Machu Picchu. Uma visão surreal e uma experiência única.
