Here we demonstrate a ModalAI M500 developer drone start up with its Visual Inertial Odometry (VIO) purposefully initialized offset and crooked relative to the center of a takeoff/landing pad. It flies a short path forwards and back commanded by a simple MAVROS test node.

Upon its return to the landing pad, the VOXL onboard computer sees the Apriltag centered on the landing pad for the first time and automatically corrects the Visual Inertial Odometry offset and rotation, allowing the drone to complete its path and land squarely on the target.
