STORYLINE
Queen Margrethe II of Denmark met Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Wednesday.
The Danish monarch, accompanied by her husband and son, is on a three-day state visit to Russia at the invitation of President Dmitry Medvedev.
At the meeting, Putin said that relations between Russia and Denmark go back a long way, to the end of the 15th century.
"Over those centuries we have come quite a long way in the development of relations between us, and in the course of your visit to our country, the (Danish) Prime Minister and I have done a good job of setting up good conditions for further movement forward," Putin said.
The Queen, who last visited Russia in 1975, during the Soviet era, said it was "a great joy and opportunity for us" to visit Russia.
The delegation accompanying the royal family members included Danish officials and businessmen.
