These Jazz Piano Exercises are
These Jazz Piano Exercises are great for introducing more hand independence to our playing. If you've been struggling with playing the piano with both hands, then this video is DEFINITELY for you!
This jazz piano exercise takes a simple D Dorian scale (playing all white keys on the piano) and enhances it with accompaniment in the left hand. By adding a little bit of syncopation, you can create a very musical exercise that you can take through all 12 keys.
Switching this exercise to play the scale in the left hand immediately makes things sound like walking bass, another very challenging technique for students to learn. This gives you a much more methodical approach and is very musical sounding.
