On this day in history the eldest child of Edward IV of England and his queen Elizabeth Woodville, Elizabeth of York, was born and after 37 years on this same day dies. She was born daughter of a King, later became sister and nice to a King, and eventually Elizabeth became queen consort of England herself in 1486, when she married King Henry VII. Her marriage to the Lancastrian heir, Henry Tudor, ended the bloody civil war remembered as "War of the roses" and was the beginning of the most famous English dynasty ever. The white rose and the red rose combined is still a symbol used by the current royal family, whose member are descendant of this couple.
