Q: Is a guide required?
A: When I went on my trek in May 2023, I was able to hike officially through police checkpoints without a guide without any problems. Since then in 2024, I have had friends do the same. When I talked with officials along the way, they seemed to not want to enforce the rule. However, things change and you should be prepared. Happy trekking!
