Kristy Janigo, who serves as legislative chair for the Minnesota American Legion, says the past legislative cycle was all about how the Legion can look at ways to defray revenue losses. The Legion supported a bill last session that would have legalized sports betting. “The Legion doesn’t have a specific vested interest in sports betting itself, but we highly support the tax cuts that were included within the bill,” said Janigo. “This is a fully funded tax cut. The state revenue generated from legal sports betting would be able to fully fund this tax cut of around $40 million a year back to Minnesota charitable gambling operations.”  If you want to learn more about the American Legion’s legislative efforts, check out MnLegion.org.
