PS4 on an old CRT Television? HDMI to Component cable Conversion

Since making this video I've played with the device a bit more and have made a few observations. If the video you're inputting is 720p then the sides of the picture will appear cut off as you can see when I hooked up my arcade stick. This same effect also occurs while inputting 1080p video but with a bit less of the picture appearing cut off. Needless to say this was a big disappointment in my purchase as there doesn't seem to be a way to fix the issue.

If you're trying this for yourself make sure whatever device you buy can convert video signal into 480i so the CRT will recognize it. Converters using composite cable outputs are much easier to come by on Amazon than one using component cable outputs. I actually bought one with composite video output recently and even though it's a lower quality picture it appears to at least fit most of the picture on the screen.

Updated March 2024 : It looks like amazon doesn't sell the same model I have anymore so unfortunately I can't recommend any other products you might see listed on their website.
