Drugs Affecting Adrenergic Transmission:
α methyl p tyrosine, inhibits tyrosine hydroxylase. α methyl dopa, inhibits dopa decarboxylase. Guanethidine and bretylium, inhibit nerve impulse coupled release. Receptor agonists and antagonists, directly stimulate or block the receptors. Cocaine and Desipramine, inhibit axonal reuptake by NET. Reserpine inhibits vesicular uptake by VMAT. MAO inhibitors inhibit degradation by mao, and COMT inhibitors inhibit degradation by COMT. Indirectly acting agents, increase the release of noradrenaline, by displacing it from its storage site, and then by reverse transport, and exchange diffusion.
