The Seawolf-class submarines boast the advanced BQQ 5D sonar system, highlighted by its impressive 24-foot-diameter bow-mounted spherical array for both active and passive detection. Additionally, these submarines are enhanced with wide-aperture passive flank arrays. As part of their upgrades, they're now integrating the TB-29A thin-line towed array sonar systems. The BQS 24 sonar further complements their capabilities, especially for detecting close-range threats like mines.

Originally, the ship's combat data was managed by the Lockheed Martin BSY-2, powered by a network of seventy Motorola 68030 processors—interestingly, the same ones used in early Macintosh computers. This system is now transitioning to the more advanced AN/BYG-1 Weapons Control System.

Designed as ultimate underwater predators, these submarines are equipped with eight torpedo tubes, which is twice as many as their predecessors. They can carry a diverse arsenal including up to fifty Mark 48 heavyweight torpedoes, Sub-Harpoon antiship missiles, and Tomahawk missiles. If needed, some of this payload can be swapped out for mines."
