One of the most popular recipes on my website !! General Tso's Tofu!
General Tso's Tofu will have you forgetting about the meat and devouring dinner!
#vegan
General Tso's Tofu
1 block firm tofu, diced (450 g)
1/4 cup (60 ml) cornstarch
4 tablespoons vegetable oil 60 ml
3 green onions, thinly sliced
1 broccoli head, cut into florets
3 cloves garlic, chopped
1 tbsp chopped ginger (optional)
2 tablespoons maple syrup
2 to 3 tablespoons soy sauce (depending how salty your vegetable broth is)
3 tablespoons ketchup
1 tsp Sriracha sauce (or red pepper paste)
3/4 cup (180 ml) vegetable broth
Oil
Coat he tofu with cornstarch.
In a saucepan heat the oil. Add tofu and cook until golden brown and crispy. Add oil if necessary. Set aside.
Add to the saucepan brocoli, green onions, garlic and ginger. Sauté 4 minutes on high heat.
Add maple syrup, soy sauce, ketchup, Sriracha sauce, vegetable broth.
Let it cook until it thickens. If it gets too thick, add some water.
Add the fried tofu, warm it up and serve.
