CWD in Kentucky and How to Hunt Without Corn Piles!

CWD was found in a 2.5 yr old Healthy looking and acting Buck during the 2023 Deer Season. I believe, due to experiencing these situations in other states that Feeding will soon be ban in Kentucky. We do not agree with that due to the lack of Science and proof that feeding really does spread CWD but…. agree or disagree agree Non Corn Hunters and users and State Regulators will soon attach this situation to corn and it will be outlawed in the very near future. In my opinion. With that being said I believe there are things we can do to have better methods of feeding and hunting strategies. I believe that putting a pile of corn in one location is not the healthiest nor the best way to feed. I don’t like corn of the ground being stepped on and urinated on the being eaten by deer and or other wildlife. This is why we chose to use the #RealWoodProduction feeders to keep the corn dry and off the ground and out of the mud. We place these feeders up on horizontal post keeping the feeders 6 inches high and keeps the area around the feeder clean etc. We don’t believe using a spin caster feeder is the smartest method and have years of proof that mature deer prefer the Log Feeders vs. and upright spin caster feeder. So can we do better I believe we as a whole can but I don’t believe that the ban of feeding corn will have any effect on of stopping CWD due to the fact it’s been in deer herds for hundreds of years. In my opinion it’s really just a way to get rid of feeding corn for good. But…… Let’s prepare for what’s ahead. Think outside the box the Corn pile if you will. There are great ways to build a successful Whitetail Property without sitting directly over a corn feeder or pile. I believe it needs to be placed on your plots to back up the plot tonnage and not hunted over unless it’s with a Gun from a far so pressure is kept at low levels.
