The Astore is a motorcycle built by Moto Guzzi between 1949 and 1953. Evolution of the G.T.V. model, born in 1934 as a touring model of the Casa di Mandello, the Astore is presented at the 1949 Milan Show. The engine derives from that born in 1921 with the Normal: single-cylinder horizontal with rods and rocker arms of 500cm³, with the traditional bore and stroke measurements of the House of Mandello del Lario, or 88 × 82 mm. Innovation compared to the previous G.T.V. it is the headboard, now with the springs and the rocker arms of the distribution enclosed and in an oil bath; moreover, the head and cylinder are made of aluminum rather than cast iron. As for the chassis, it is similar to that of the last G.T.V.: the frame is a double cradle enclosed in tubes; the fork is telescopic, while at the rear there is the classic system introduced in 1928 with the Norge, or swingarm with spring under the engine, assisted this time by two hydraulic shock absorbers. The gearbox is four-speed with pedal control. The aesthetics of the Astore is practically identical to the ancestor G.T.V., with a tapered and chrome-plated tank and very protective legs. In 1952, due to difficulties in finding chrome, the tank is painted in red and black, while other details are painted or nickel-plated. The following year a new tank was introduced, with a more modern line, similar to that of the "older brother" Falcone. During the same year the production of the Astore ceased, to leave room for the Falcone Turismo, practically identical with the exception of the rear suspensions.
