Comprehensive Abaqus Package: Comprehensive Abaqus Package
Including 39 hours of step-by-step tutorials.
Chapter 5 of the package is related to this tutorial.

Don’t hesitate to ask any questions you might have about the explanations presented in this video using the comments below. We try to answer all questions regarding the video details in the comments below.

In biomechanical engineering, the Mimics and 3-matic software are used to create geometry and CAD file from the MRI or radiology pictures of bones and soft tissues. The generated STEP format of the geometry can be imported to the Abaqus for performing structural analysis.
Most of the time, the imported geometries are not simple and cannot be meshed easily. Actually there will be a lot of extra features in these geometries that can cause problems in generating an optimum mesh with a minimum number of elements and high quality elements.
In the first part of this tutorial, we will focus on how to remove these extra features from a complex bone imported into the Abaqus mesh module and remove some of its extra features. After this procedure, the part/geometry is ready to be meshed.
