After rebuilding the exterior wall on this house we moved inside. We noticed the floor was sagging a little bit so we decided to take a look in the crawlspace. To call this a crawlspace is an miss characterization because it closer resembles a basement. It has an extreme amount of room to easily allow any work to be done that’s needed. We proceeded to measure the length of the joist which ended up being 2 x 10 16 foot in length. That is well beyond what this floor should be. Underneath the house with the ducking and plumbing and electrical this floor span did not look this long. It closer resembled something around 12 feet which is getting closer to acceptable for a span. We made the decision to add a girder to split the span of the 2x10 joist.
