Introducing how to eat zaru-soba, Japanese food.

Script:
Today, I’d like to show you how to eat ZARU SOBA!
Have you eaten this food?
Zaru-soba is cold soba noodles with dipping sauce. Soba is a plant. so Soba is made with the soba plant.

Actually I got shocked when I went to a Japanese restaurant with a foreigner, Singaporean, she ate soba directly from the bamboo plate and drunk the Soba source (mentsuyu, dipping source for soba or udon.) from the bottle.  I thought, OMG!  So I realized that what it’s normal thing is not normal to a foreigner. That’s why I decided to make this video.

By the way, some people has allergy with this plant, so when you eat soba, try a little bit first, then make sure if you don’t have allergy on it.
(.05% of Japanese has Soba allergy. )

So I went to this soba shop in Wasabi farm in Azumino, in Nagano prefecture. This soba is this shop’s original. Normally it won’t come with Salmon. but usually with chopped dried seaweed. Well, it was looks nice and taste good too. :)

So here is the thing you’ll see when you order Zaru-soba.
YOu’ll have an empty soba cup (although I already pour it, so sorry, which is in the middle. So you pour the mentsuyu from the right bottle to the empty cup, then you put Yakima, which is spices, -usually we have this, green onion, wasabi, and Daikon-oroshi, (grated white radish). SO you put these Yakima (=spices) into the cup.

Then you take this soba from the bamboo plate and dip into the mantsuyu. and slurp it.
MMMM yummy!

Even after eaten all soba, you still have pleasure :)
They’ll serve Soba-yu. which is white hot water, the water which boiled the soba.  because soba-tsuyu is a bit salty, so dilute with the soba-yu. and drink it. Hmmmm it make me relax. :)
