A Russian guy goes to interview people living in Marcy Houses - notorious Projects in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. This is a huge Project Housing Complex next to beautiful historical buildings.
The neighbourhood is famous because Jay-Z was bor here as well as plenty of other music and sport selebreties.
Mostly people prefer to avoid Marcy Houses if they don't live there. It is a common conception that the neighbourhood is dangerous, and the locals are poor. But I wanted to see it with my own eyes in order to find the truth. I wanted to meet local people, to talk to them and to find out what is their life like. I wanted to know their struggles, dreams and aspirations.
I met young guys and OG's, former criminals and future rap stars. We discussed everything from the history of Marcy Houses to politics, gentrification, hip-hop and African American fashion.
At the end of the day I realized that we, people from post-Soviet countries, have much more in common with black Americans living in the projects than with other Americans. It's something deep in our souls and social history. Watch the video in order to reveal it.
