Starting on the disassembly of the unit.  First we open the controls panel and flip that out of the way, disconnect the lid switch connector.  Then there are 2 metal clips that are pried with a screwdriver, that holds the back of the case to the cabinet.  Those are removed, and the cabinet is rocked forward and walked off.

Then the tub ring at the top comes off, there are a series of clips going around; disconnect the bleach dispenser hose if equipped.  The tub ring then comes off.

Now the hard part--removing the tub nut.  To do this, you WILL NEED a spanner nut wrench.  You can find these on Amazon, one such tool is this:  https://www.amazon.com/Beaquicy-TB123...

Once that is off, it's time to remove the tub.  The problem is, rust holds it on the shaft.  The way we found to do it is to bunch a towel up a number of times to protect the tub, then use the broad side of a hammer, and knock the tub in all directions.  Eventually, it will break free, and can lift out of the machine.

Doing it the hard way, without a spanner nut wrench, see "Kenmore 80 Series Disassembly & Cleaning - Part 2":  Kenmore 80 Series Disassembly & Clean...
