Namaste We are Shirish and Pooja
and Welcome to the new episode of ‪@RedSoilStories‬
It was the 2nd last day of Ganesh Chaturthi festival and We decided to visit Pooja's Mama's (Uncle) place to pray before their Ganapati Bappa.
Pooja's mother has also come there for the Ganapati festival.
We reached at their place and they were preparing for the offerings for Lord Ganesha.
They were making "Chaphekali" and "Mangana" as offerings.
Both of these are unique Traditional Kokani Sweets. Chapekali is a sweet made with all purpose flour and sugar syrup.
Mangana is an indigenous sweet soup often prepared for festivals in Southern kokan region and Goa. It is a mixture of Bengal gram, Sago, Jaggery, dry fruits cooked together till a creamy soup like consistency.
Both of these sweets are enjoyed as snacks and also offered to Lord Ganesha.
Watch how both of these recipes were made in Mami's (Aunty's) traditional kitchen and How Pooja help her mother and Mami.
