Cory's Birthday Celebration Part 2

*"I try to forget the sad times."
("")

Kris is the first to admit that she was a prodigal daughter to her mom, in likeness to the story in the Bible about the prodigal son who eventually returned to his father. But Tita Cory says that she tries to forget the sad times that naturally happen and just think about the good things about her children. She shares that as a child, she was also challenged to prove something to her family, being the middle child in the very politicized and vigilant Sumulong clan. Her father, who was a member of the opposition, taught her not only to be a fighter but also to always be humble.
Former House Speaker Manny Villar congratulates Tita Cory for her son, Cong. Noynoy Aquino, who is one of today's most active young congressmen. Noynoy is also known as a staunch fighter for human rights.

" God has truly blessed me all these 68 years. "

At 68 and past her retirement age, Tita Cory says she can truly say that she's had a happy life. No matter the pain that her family went through upon losing her husband, national hero Ninoy Aquino, she realized that things happened for a reason.
Tita Cory thanks Senate President Nene Pimentel whom she reveals was supposed to be her Vice-President when she became President. But due to circumstances beyond her control, she wasn't able to give him the position she planned to, and yet Sen. Pimentel has stayed by her side until now. She also thanks Sen. Franklin Drilon who was her Executive Secretary during her term. She says Sen. Drilon had always given her sound advice when she needed some. Lastly, Cory thanks Teddy Boy Locsin whom she says is the "best speech writer." Not only do they "connect," but Cory says she doesn't know where she would be without him. She boasts that even former U.S. President Reagan had asked for her speech writer.

"Tama na sa People Power 3."

("Let's stop in People Power 3.")
How does she want to be remembered? Tita Cory says that she wants people to remember her as a good wife to Ninoy and as a good mother. She says that in the end, everyone will be judged by everything that we do here on earth.

From being the color of cowardice, Tita Cory has also changed the connotation of the color yellow to courage. She says it is also a color of remembering, and for her it's for remembering her late husband.

And the bottomline according to Kris:
Mommy, you make me proud because I'm your daughter, because of everyhting that you have done for the Philippines. You have taught us that we don't all have to be politicians, that we don't have to be in the government to serve our country. We should just know what we have to do and do it.
