How to Use Face ID with a Mask on iPhone

With the newest iOS update, you can now use Face ID even if you're wearing a mask! Watch this video to learn how to enable Face ID with a mask on iPhone.

Note that this feature is only available on iPhone 12 and newer.
Before you can enable Face ID with a mask, you will need to have updated your iPhone to iOS 15.4 or newer. Once your software is up to date, you can enable Face ID with a mask. You may be prompted to enable this setting as soon as your update is complete. If so, tap Use Face ID with a Mask. If you already tapped set up later, you can still enable this feature. To get back to this option, open your Settings app. Scroll down and select Face ID and Passcode. If prompted, enter your device’s passcode. Now, tap the switch beside “Face ID with a Mask” to enable this feature. Complete the face scan by moving your head around to fill in the outer circle. When finished, tap Done. If you wear glasses regularly, you can add glasses to your Face ID. Put on your glasses and complete the Face ID scan process again by turning your head. Note that Face ID with a mask will work with regular glasses but not with sunglasses, as the scan needs to be able to see your eyes in order to work properly.
Face ID with a mask will work everywhere that you normally use Face ID, including unlocking your device, Apple Pay, and any third-party apps you’ve allowed use of Face ID for.
That’s all it takes to set up Face ID with a mask on iPhone.
