January 3rd marks the birth anniversary of one of India's earliest feminist pioneers –Savitribai Phule. Women in India are indebted to the tireless struggles of this social reformer, who fought fearlessly against the twin oppressions of caste and gender her whole life, to make a difference to the generations of Indian women who came after her. Today, FII pays homage to our feminist foremother, Savitribai Phule.
