Restoring a 130-year-old steam locomotive, D&RGW 223

Denver & Rio Grande Western locomotive number 223 is a historically important piece currently displayed and under restoration at the Utah State Railroad Museum in Ogden, Utah. It is one of three C-16 class locomotives remaining and one of only two surviving Grant Locomotive Works engines in existence. The Golden Spike Chapter, Railway & Locomotive Historical Society has  undertaken the restoration since 1991 with the current goal to do steam tests in 2019.
