The single cast on is probably the easiest way to cast on for knitting. This method does not involve any complicated steps and you can never run out of yarn. It forms a neat edge and can be used for almost all beginner projects. The single cast on basically boils down to wrapping a simple twisted loop around your knitting needle. It's a very basic cast-on method suitable for your first couple of projects. It's also known as the thumb method or e-cast-on.
