Various solutions and ideals on how to fix VMWare Workstation Player network inactivity timeout disconnect problem when using bridged connection mode. VMWare has several issues when using bridged mode and it can be troublesome to locate the problem, at first this problem looks like a timeout issue however it's less complicated than a simply packet loss and timeout issue, in this video I talk about several steps you can take to prevent you from unexpectedly disconnecting from the local network or router.

This problem can occur on both VMWare Workstation 8-10 or even earlier, VMWare Player and on all virtual machines operating systems (Windows, Linux, Etc) and both hosts Windows Vista/7/8/Server and Mac OS.

First Method: Navigate to the networking virtual network editor, click VMnet with the type 'Bridged' change Bridged to: 'automatic' to the actual network card (NIC) Wifi or Cable that you want to have a direct external connection with i.e. router or a DCHP server.

Second Method: If the first method fails then VMWare recommends users to update the firmware of the NIC card however most Workstation users don't have fancy network cards that have firmware updates so the only other option that they recommend is to update to the latest drivers. Intel, Realtek and others generally update their drivers regularly, please note that the drivers offered by the motherboard manufacture will often only have outdated drivers, so find out what on-board network card you uses then see if you can obtain a driver update directly from the manufacture of that NIC card.

Third Method: If both the first and second method fail to resolve this issue then the problem is likely something causing the problem, Firewalls can often block network connections for several reasons, In this video disabling NOD32 Eset Antivirus and Internet Security resolved this issue, if you have McAfee, Symantec Norton or something similar then do try temporary disabling the block network features and firewall... Please note that some firewall software can still block networks and connections even when disabled.

If any of these methods or don't work please contribute your findings, this will help other users.
