After decades of searching has the search for the elusive Brown Sound come to an end?
This video is in many ways a response to @PeteThorn's recent, excellent and very informative, videos about Eddie's guitar tones. Namely, the video where Pete tests 23 different Van Halen inspired/used pickups. You can check them out here:

Eddie Van Halen's tone on Van Halen's debut album in 1978 revolutionized guitar playing forever, launching thousands and thousands of imitators. It also has perhaps the most sought after distorted guitar sound in the world, that people are still chasing over 40 years later.
Eddie used lots of different pickups over the years, but exactly which pickups were used on the debut album has been a source of much debate and analysis. Recently, Pete Thorn and a number of prominent guitar gear nerds have claimed the Dimzario Super Distortion (which is now in the "Shark) guitar) was in the Ibanez Destroyer Ed used on much of the album, including the legendary intro of You Really Got Me.
