ZEBRA BABY GROWING UP WITH HELP FROM MOM

Zebra baby growing up with help from mom at Brevard Zoo in Melbourne, Florida. This 5 1/2 month old female Grevy's zebra "Tonks" is still nursing and may continue for at least another 6 months. She loves playing with 19-year old mom "Zonka," but also enjoys watching the neighboring zebras, giraffes, impalas, rhinos, and ostrich. Foals will memorize their mother's unique stripe pattern, especially crucial to their safety from predators in the wild. Grevy's zebras are endangered and have faced one of the greatest range reductions of any African mammal in the wild with only about 3,000 remaining in Kenya and Ethiopia.
