Bhavani is a popular place in Erode district of TN state in South India. Among many famous things, religiously Bhavani Kooduthurai (confluence of rivers) stands significant. The rivers are Cauvery (from Trichy), Bhavani (from Mettupalayam) and the mystic river, Amudha and they are called Cauvery-Surya-Gayathri Theertham making it a Triveni Sangamam, on the banks of which sits Lord Shiva in Sangameshwarar Temple. Lingam here is situated under Ber (ilandhai) tree, which is Zizyphus mauritiana. As per Hindu mythology Vishwamithra, Parasura and Kubera worshipped Shiva here. On Amavasya and other auspicious days, people throng here to do rituals for ancestors (Karma or Thidhi). Bhavani is situated 15 KM from Erode, 30 KM from Gobichettipalayam, 56 KM from Salem and 106 KM from Coimbatore. This ensemble includes photos and videos of the place. During floods, the temple becomes an island and the arch for the temple on the highway is impressive and guiding visitors.
