This is the first of three animated Titanic films that came out around the turn of the 21st Century. So, it seems like this inspired the other two. In fact, the plot is incredibly similar to one of them. You may be saying, "Well, aren't they all about the Titanic sinking?" Yes. And they have Jack & Rose type characters and all that. But they also have talking mice, just sort of wandering about doing talking mice stuff.
This isn't a good film. It boggles the mind why another film would want to copy the talking mouse plot point, but they did. It feels like not much happens... and then a lot happens that doesn't make much sense. It involves an incredibly stupid talking octopus being tricked by talking sharks, who work for a human who wants to control the whaling industry. The sharks don't seem to get anything out of it. Just in it for the love of the game.
